Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) - Sharon Shields Consulting
Overview
Sharon Shields Consulting may use artificial intelligence (“AI”) tools to support the delivery of life sciences consultancy services. This statement explains how we use AI, how we protect client information, and the safeguards we apply.
Use of AI
Sharon Shields Consulting may use AI tools for limited, low‑risk purposes, such as:
-
Drafting, structuring or editing text (e.g. emails, reports, slide decks, web content).
-
Summarising publicly available information (e.g. literature, regulatory guidance).
-
Supporting internal research, ideation and planning.
-
Improving clarity, grammar and readability of written material.
AI is used as an assistive tool only. It does not replace my professional judgement or expertise.
How AI is not used
Sharon Shields Consulting does not rely on AI tools for:
-
Final scientific, regulatory or strategic advice.
-
Interpretation or analysis of confidential experimental, clinical or commercial data.
-
Final approval of any client deliverable.
All substantive advice and deliverables are prepared and/or independently reviewed by a suitably qualified human.
Client confidentiality and data protection
Sharon Shields Consulting takes confidentiality and data protection seriously.
In relation to AI, I:
-
Do not intentionally input:
-
Confidential or proprietary client information,
-
Unpublished data or trade secrets,
-
Personal data that directly identifies an individual,
into public AI tools where it is reasonably avoidable.
-
-
Where I use AI solutions that may process client data, we:
-
Seek to use reputable providers, all are subscription based tools, no free tools are utilised
-
Review their security and data processing terms,
-
Aim to configure settings so that client data is not used to train public models or shared with other users, where such options exist.
-
Sharon Shields Consulting remain responsible for complying with applicable data protection law (including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). For more information on how we handle personal data, please see the policy page.
Accuracy, reliability and human oversight
AI-generated content can be incomplete, outdated or inaccurate.
To manage this, I:
-
Treat AI output as a draft or suggestion, not as authoritative fact.
-
Check and edit AI-assisted content before it is shared with clients.
-
Cross‑check any technical or regulatory information against up‑to‑date, authoritative sources where appropriate.
-
Retain full responsibility for the quality and accuracy of our advice and deliverables.
Your choices
If you would prefer that I do not use AI tools in any aspect of your engagement (including drafting), please inform me. I will accommodate this wherever reasonably possible, although this may affect project timelines or fees.

Sharon Shields Consulting may update this AI statement from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation or our internal practices. The latest version will always be available on this page.
